Developing hazelnut cultivation in Bas-Saint-Laurent<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The eight SADC organizations in Bas-Saint-Laurent have been collaborating technically and financially since 2018 to develop hazelnut farming. Currently, 15 producers across the Bas-Saint-Laurent region are part of the experimental network for this emerging crop, under the supervision of the Biopterre Product Development Centre in La Pocati\u00e8re. The SADC organizations have assisted in identifying suitable lands for research, recruiting and supporting producers, as well as promoting the new Quebec hazelnut sector. In the fall of 2023, they participated in an exploratory mission in Ontario organized by Biopterre and the Centre for the Development of Bioproducts and Non-Timber Forest Product and Innovative Crop Sectors in Bas-Saint-Laurent. The goal was to better understand and draw inspiration from the practices in these two key hazelnut-producing regions in North America and to continue developing this crop within the region.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
